Oncology Nurse Practitioner
I'm a cancer care practitioner with 25 years of experience caring for those undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. In this time, I have extensive experience in helping survivors regain their health and strength after treatment is completed.
I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Nevada, Reno earning a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and working for 8 years as a bedside nurse. I went on to pursue a Masters of Science from the University of California, San Francisco where my focus was oncology nursing and allowing myself to practice as an oncology clinical nurse specialist. In this role, I was able to improve the cancer care experience for patients through process improvement. I loved this role, but knew I could do more. Which is why I completed a post-Master's Nurse Practitioner Certificate through the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Since completing my NP education in 2012, I have worked for two large healthcare systems which allowed me to fine tune my skills in treatment, symptom management and survivorship. Because of my interest in understanding integrative and root cause medicine, I have completed courses through the Institute of Functional Medicine as well as completed the Integrative Oncology Scholars Program through the University of Michigan. Additionally, I am a graduate of Dr. Nasha Winters' Practitioners Metabolic Approach to Cancer program which has broadened my knowledge and strengthened my ability to assess each patient and confidently recommend the best steps forward.
My focus is always to take a holistic approach to developing the best plan of care for each patient. And through telemedicine, I am able to work with patients in different parts of the country.
On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons. I have a daily exercise and meditation practice as I believe it is important to continue my own journey towards optimal health.
